I feel zero discrimination, and frankly any such negativity tied to the school exists only on opaque message boards. If your so concerned about these things than maybe your not right for Columbia. Your main goal at GS should be the rigorous education your going to get, and not whether there are some negative attitudes (which there are not).

I'm sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but these questions are so tiring, and they have no impact (ZERO) on life as a GS student. Your reservations are almost laughable, as once your semester begins you will not even think about such things. I have a 3.8+ gpa here, so if anyone did have any negative opinions (which they don't), chances are I'm doing better than them academically.

    Hi Tsar10027,

I’ll be attending Columbia gs this spring, and was hoping you might be willing share a little of your experience. Reading the malicious comments on this board, I’ve been a little freaked out about the reputation of the school. I’ve lived on campus for the past year and a half (graduate housing – wife getting PhD), and have gathered that there are some negative attitudes about gs on campus, though it’s unclear to me to what extent this might impact academic or professional life. Have you personally experienced any meaningful discrimination because of gs? In general, how has your experience been? I’d be grateful for any response.
    Thanks,
    Dan
