Hi Jody- hope things are going well in your empty nest! I didn't want to correct you on-line, but while your comment about sororities might be true for most kids, it isn't true for all. One of my daughter's best friends-- and a lovely, but slightly shy girl --dropped out because she only got one call back at the end and she wasn't interested in that sorority. So while most get bids- not all do.
    Best,
    Betsy
ps What's your older daughter doing these days?

Hi Rodney, thank you for your posting. This is actually posted for my son. He is a junior in HS. He is interested in UNC and Syracuse for communications. He has pretty strong credentials, so I think he will have a good chance at both. He tends toward the "information gathering" side as opposed to the "performance side" of communications, so one thought was Newhouse plus I-School at SU. That might offer an interesting combination? Any advice is helpful, including experiences your daughter has had at SU. We have visited SU, but not yet visited UNC.

    Hi Rodney,
I've seen you're posts about the Bandier Program which is my dream major, I could honestly go on about it for days. However, I am confused on one point- did you mention somewhere that Syracuse is NOT need-blind? Does that mean that the chances of me getting accepted if I applied for FA are lower? Please let me know cause I JUST sent my FAFSA and CSS/PROFILE and I'm really wondering if I am going to regret it now :/

Thank you for your offer of assistance in navigation our son's education. I am looking at private schools, am rethinking our local high school "tracks" and even home school.

Friday there was another incident at school - the teacher took a paper said it was BS scrunched it up and threw it on the floor.

    It's been a heartbreaking weekend.

FYI, Family Weekend at Susquehanna is next week. The official schedule includes an optional Shabbot dinner in the campus Sukkah and the theater department's Fall play, which is The Diary of Anne Frank.

Did you figure out how to handle that nosy parent?

I saw your post on Syracuse and on whole your daughter loves Newhouse but isnt such a fan of student body.

Im applying to Newhouse in the fall, but also am not sure that I will like SYR overall.

It's more like Newhouse is prompting the application rather than SYR as a whole.

What specificly did your daughtner not like about the student body?

    Thanks,
    Bobby

Which district had the AP access court case? This sounds like a very wrong decision.

hello! thank you for your reply! do you have any other snipits of information you think could be of value to me? i'm between SU and Oswego... I realize Oswego isn't a very good school but I like it (i got into Binghamton but I don't really like it, University of Rochester- comes out to be tons of money, RPI- lots of money as well). I have a very low EFC the price difference between the SU and Oswego isn't that large for me so I'm thinking the better "value" would be Syracuse.

This may seem like a trivial question but by any chance do you know what their fitness facilities are like?

rodney... PM issues... not sure if the message I just sent went through. I have two boys at Elon. #1 boy, an overachiever in HS, was accepted EA (BusinessFellow), #2 boy, an underachiever in HS, was deferred EA then accepted regular (Biology-Chemistry Major)
