Thank you. I started investing on my own a little bit ago, but in 2005 my Dad purchased quite a lot of stock in Apple on my account (and his as well) which I sold off a couple months ago. That's the larger portion of my portfolio right now. I was too young to trade at that time but he was thinking for the future.
I'm not sure how much money you're trying to raise, but the I've had a lot of success day trading. If you have a smartphone you can open a TD Ameritrade account and trade stock at school in your free time.
If it's possible to get a loan from your parents, do that, I'd say about 3-5k if you want quick cash in the stock market, however, if that's not possible I'd say pick some stock in some up and coming companies. Right now I'm watching a company called "Exone". It's a 3D printing company at around 35 bucks a share right now.
