We have given him minimal information. He knows he's going somewhere in Utah to an adventure camp but not exactly where or when. Our consultant gave us some good advice for how to tell him. he knows it has to be soon because we are working like banshees to get new glasses, all his meds filled, etc. We told him we are waiting for a spot to open up and as soon as it does we will go.

It was a poignant mother's day and to top it off my birthday is Friday! Thanks for the support.

Hi, wanted to let you know what we ultimately did about our son. His substance abuse escalated quickly and forced us to act and take drastic measures. We put him in detox for 72 hours and engaged the services of an independent education consultant who specializes in at risk kids. She has helped us locate a wilderness therapy program that she has had tremendous success with who take kids just like our son. She also recommends he goes straight to a therapeutic boarding school to continue his treatment and get his academic house in order and is going to help us find this school while he is at wilderness. He leaves Tuesday. It feels like a piano has been lifted off my chest. While my heart is so heavy that it has come to this point, I feel so relieved that we have found (hoping and praying) a path for him that will be the best for him. So in just one month, I will go from a stay home mom to an empty nester. Quite a shock to the system.
