Typing an AP Exam-Scoring Questions?

Hey all, thanks for your help in advance.

I have a computer accomadation for AP Exams. APUSH was the only exam this year that I had it for(I don't get it on Calc or Physics because no essays.) When you type the exam, spellcheck is prohibited. I did a readthrough at the end for typos, and thought I caught most of them, but, when the proctor pulled it up on her computer to print it, she had spellcheck enabled, and I saw the little red and green underlines pop up all over my paper, signifying typos/spelling errors. Probably about a dozen+ for each FRQ/DBQ.

My question is this; am I going to be significantly penalized for my errors? I'm sure I'll loose something, but can a 7+ essay become a bad grade(5 or lower) because of bad mechanics? I'm fairly certain I got a 5 based on the content of the essays(Also did really well on MC), and messing around with APPass it seems like it's not that close either, but is my carelessness going to cost me significant points? I'm expecting to loose one point or so on each question, since the content of the essay it's self is still solid, and from what I can understand AP's are more about what you know than how you know it(Excluding English). This is APUSH, not AP English, so that should be a good thing, no?

Thanks for your replies in advance!

My APUSH and my APWH teacher told my class not to worry about spelling and grammatical errors at all. I'm not sure how that would work in a higher level essay, though.
